Today, Internet is playing several roles for children, as they use them for various purposes. For those who use Internet for study, Internet is a tutor, for those who use it for playing games, Internet is the best companion, and for those who use it for social networking, Internet is a communication media. Apart from using Internet for study, social networking, or playing games there are several other activities that can be done using Internet. For example, it can be used for watching online movies, gambling, watching porn, spreading offensive content, etc.

You as a parent will never like that your children get involved in using Internet for the purposes like playing games for hours, watching porn online, visiting gambling sites, or surfing social networking sites for hours. However, you can allow them using Internet for social networking, checking emails, playing games for a specified time slot but cannot make them free to use Internet for how long they want. Using Internet for long hours for social networking, watching videos, etc. will make them habitual to Internet, which ultimately affects their studies and career. Therefore, being a responsible parent you must like to monitor computer activity of your children.

When someone opens a website in a browser, then the browser adds that website in the list of recently visited website. You can view that list by accessing the recorded history of visited websites. You can view the history any time. This is the one way to monitor computer activity of your children. Following steps help you to view browser history in Mozilla and Firefox:

1.Start the Browser.

2.Press CTRL + H keys.

As you press the keys, history pane will be opened in the left side of the browser. Select an appropriate option to view the history of the websites visited. This way you can know that which websites your children have accessed when you are not there to monitor them. However, this is the only one way to know what is being accessed on computer in your absence. Another way to monitor computer activity is the use of computer activity monitor software.

The computer activity monitor software enables you to record the every activity of your children that they perform on computer. Whether they access a software application, watch movie, play computer games, open Internet, or do something else on computer, every activity will be recorded by the software in the form of AVI files. You can watch the recorded files anytime. This way you can monitor computer activity of your children without letting them know that you audit them even when you are not at home. After viewing the recorded desktop activities, if you found something wrong; for example, your children is involved in social networking for a long time then you can ask them to minimize social networking or can take another action so that their future will not be spoiled by such Internet activities.
